Our company milestones characterise our journey: from our roots as a collaborative research project to becoming an independent company with global investors and international reach.
April 2015: BIPV Ltd Acquired from Swansea University
Innovation Management Ltd, an IOM registered venture capital company investing in green technologies, acquires BIPV Ltd from Swansea University.
June 2016: Product Launch
Following its acquisition, BIPVco completes the incubation and launch of ‘first to world’ products into the market.
August 2016: BIPVco shortlisted for Wales Start-Up of the Year Award
The Active Office is a full-scale building demonstration project based at Swansea University’s Bay Campus, containing extensive office space and is being used as a practical technology demonstrator
The project involved 20 partners, including Tata Steel, Wernick Group and SPECIFIC.
December 2016: Award wins at the Business Green Technology Awards
BIPVco scoops two awards at the Business Green Technology awards in the Solar Technology of the Year and Clean Tech Start Up of the Year categories.
May 2017: Flextron achieves accreditation
Flextron building integrated and mobile photovoltaic solutions achieve IEC 61646:2008 and IEC 61730-2:2007 requirements for PV module design according to IEC 61730-1:2007 with all testing being carried out by TUV Rheinland.
Relocates manufacturing facility from the PV Accelerator Building at Shotton Works, north Wales to the state-of-the-art modern facility at G Cell Building, Newport.
The National Railway Museum has launched the second season of its Innovation Platform exhibition, focusing on decarbonisation and includes a working Flextron exhibit.
May 2023: Flextron becomes Triple E approved
Flextron solar PV is registered as an approved energy efficient product on the Triple E register. The register is operated by SEAI, Ireland’s national sustainable energy authority.
